Jacoba Francisca Maria "Cobie" Smulders (born April 3, 1982) is a Canadian actress and former model, known for her role as Robin Scherbatsky on the CBS television series How I Met Your Mother.
Smulders' first role was as a guest in the Showtime sci-fi series Jeremiah, and she has guest starred in several television series since, including a recurring part in The L Word. Off-Broadway, she has performed in Love, Loss, and What I Wore.
Her first permanent series role was in the short-lived ABC series Veritas: The Quest; her second was the series for which she is most well-known, the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, where she plays television reporter Robin Scherbatsky, also a Canadian. For her role in HIMYM, Smulders portrayed Canadian teen popstar Robin Sparkles. She has two hit singles, Let's Go To The Mall and Sandcastles In The Sand. Joss Whedon has suggested that he considered her for the role of Wonder Woman in his draft of the (cancelled) eponymous film. Smulders has been cast to play Maria Hill in Whedon's upcoming film The Avengers, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. Smulder's deal would integrate her into nine films.
